A Collection of Assorted Musings

Welcome to September's edition of Monthly Miscellanea, a series highlighting the objects, people, places, and experiences that have prompted reflection and conversation of late.

01. Mid-Autumn Festival: Mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival, a ritual filled holiday where loved ones gather and celebrate the fall harvest and fullest moon of the year.

02. Standstill Tea: Should you plan to indulge in mooncakes, we asked our friends at Standstill Tea for a tea pairing. They recommended their Gui Fei Oolong, a Taiwanese Oolong noted for its leaves bitten by jassids. Tea makers have discovered that tea nibbled on by these insects before the tea leaves are harvested results in a lovely stonefruit, honey-like aroma. Trust us when we tell you the unique flavor is delicious!

This weekend only, Weichao and Tiff are offering our followers a special discount code. Use code “FUGGIAMO10” for 10% off through 10/01.

03. No Life Exhibit at Marta: “No Life” by Wentrcek and Zebulon at Marta Gallery in LA, an exhibit exploring the question of what we need to live through muted, spartan furniture pieces (made with unexpected materials like foam!). Exhibit runs through October 28th.

04. Modern Weaving Bucket Bag: Lately, I've found myself turning to the Mini Circle Bucket Bag by Modern Weaving as my handbag of choice. It feels equal parts luxurious, classic, bold, and minimal with the elegant bicolor style and dramatic circular handles. Compliments abound every time I wear it.

05. “Stop Making Sense” 40th Anniversary Reissue: Earlier this month, Jonathan Demme’s iconic Talking Heads concert film “Stop Making Sense” returned newly restored for its 40th anniversary, and it's everything. Did you know the concert marked the debut of David Byrne's famed big suit? Inspired by traditional Japanese theater, Byrne noted, “I wanted my head to appear smaller and the easiest way to do that was to make my body bigger. Because music is very physical, and often the body understands it before the head.”

06. @metagirl.studio:
Last month, we mentioned our love of gorpcore style, and we just discovered metagirl.studio. Embellishing sneakers with feminine details like pearls, lace, and ruffles, creative Caterina Mongillo takes streetwear to a whole new level.
