NEPAL

Nepal is the birthplace of the Lord Buddha and home to eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including the tallest (Mount Everest). Of the countries I've visited, it's one that holds a special place in my heart. Where Central, Southern, and Eastern Asia meet, Nepal maintains a chaotic and harmonious blend of geographic, cultural, religious, and physical diversity.
Among the country's magical hallmarks is its rich, cultural heritage. Jewelry, in particular, has played a crucial role as a status signifier, decorative accessory, talismanic charm, and reflection of Hindu and Buddhist spirituality. Chinese scholars mentioned the skill of Nepali silversmiths in travelogues dating to the BC times. In ancient cities in and around Kathmandu Valley, this artistry continues to flourish. Often using the same tools and techniques of their ancestors, artisans preserve handicraft traditions. The results are modern heirlooms, a humble offering of which I'm thrilled to bring to Fuggiamo.
